Commission on Collegiate

Interpreter Education

CIT has assisted in the establishment of a new accrediting body for interpreter education, the Commission Collegiate Interpreter Education.  While CIT continues to support its work and mission, the CCIE is now an independent entity.  Information regarding their work, standards for interpreter education, and the process of accreditation can be found at their new website: www.ccie-accreditation.org

Standards for Interpreter Education

Through its work in establishing the CCIE, CIT also helped to develop national standards for interpreter education. If you are looking for information on what to expect in an effective interpreter education program, or if you are working to establish a program, be sure to read the National Interpreter Education Standards.

Accreditation Process

CIT encourages interpreter education programs to seek accreditation as part of our collective efforts toward excellence. CIT congratulates the following programs for understaking the self-study review process. Other programs interested in the Self Study Review can contact CCIE.

First Program Achieves Accreditation

Congratulations to the University of New Hampshire - Manchester for being the first program to successfully complete the accreditation process.
