Conference of Interpreter Trainers
On-line Board Meeting
April 6, 2008

Persons present: Carolyn Ball, Doug Bowen-Bailey, Cindy Volk, Annette Miner, Laura Covell, Leslie Greer

Absent: Brian Morrison, Kellie Mills-Stewart, Cindy Farnham

The meeting was opened at 7:00 CST by President, Carolyn Ball.

Convention Planning

Discussion regarding labels for sponsorship levels. It was decided to leave this up to Myrelis, but suggest that the labels have an explanation or description attached.
Discussion regarding room rates.
Board members need to register for the conference on-line.

Other Items

Doug (Leslie) moved that CIT will not sell or share the list of member emails. Organizations or individuals wishing to contact CIT members via email can use the CIT newsletter or eNews Briefs. Motion carried. (B08:7). Discussion that organizations or individuals may purchase address labels for 10 cents each.
Leslie will contact non-profit organizations to get an idea about costs for advertising on a website.

Journal Committee

Annette reported that after much discussion with people in the field and with editors of other journals, the committee does not recommend establishing a research-based journal at this time. However, they do recommend the following:
Continue to explore other publication options. The members of the Journal Committee are willing to lead this effort if so directed by the CIT Board.
Create and disseminate a targeted survey for CIT members about specific types of publications that would be useful and sustainable.
Host an open forum about CIT publications at the 2008 CIT conference in order to gather ideas for publication needs of CIT members.
Collect input from the CIT Board on potential publication alternatives.
Have the Journal Committee members brainstorm alternative publication options.

Annette will request a forum for the journal discussion from the Program Committee for the convention.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm MST.
