Conference of Interpreter Trainers
On-Line Board Meeting
January 3, 2010
Persons present: Brian Morrison, Cindy Farnham, Cindy Volk, Leslie Greer, Suzanne Ehrlich, Laura Braucht, Myrelis Aponte-Samalot
Absent: Carolyn Ball, Annette Miner
President Brian Morrison opened the meeting at 8:10 pm EST.
Minutes from the October, 2009 board meeting were accepted.
President Report
- Brian represented CIT at the open house for the Video Relay Service Interpreting Institute.
- Brian has been in contact with Stacey Webb from the DC area RID about a “Supporting the Gap” conference in March, 2010. They would like for CIT to be involved in some way.
- Brian contacted Karen Bontempo and she has agreed to be a plenary speaker for the conference.
Vice-President Report
- Cindy F set up a separate google page for conference discussions. This is separate from the google apps page that Suzanne set up for email, tasks, document sharing, etc. Everyone needs to check this often!
- Cindy F is contacting Lauri Metcalf regarding conference chairs.
Treasurer Report
The general fund balance is $82,082. The 8 month CD (renewed until August) is $21,433 and the 11 month CD is $32,030 which matures January 19, 2010.
Director of Professional Development Report
Laura reported that she has set up a gmail account for conference presentation/poster submissions. She will be sending out emails to the membership regarding the deadline for submissions.
Director of Technology and Communications Report
Suzanne reported that she has set up Google Apps. The conference logo is complete. Cindy V (Suzanne) moved that we pay $250 to the person who designed the logo. Motion accepted (B10:01). Suzanne will send the payment information to Cindy Farnham.
Director of Public Relations Report
Leslie contacted Harumi Kimura and she has agreed to be a plenary speaker for the conference. Leslie and a student have been working on putting together information packages to send out to interpreting programs. The packages include an old proceedings book, a membership form and a cover letter. They are also working on collecting video clips for a “Welcome to the CIT Conference” in different languages.
Director of Membership Report
Myrelis reported that she and Leslie have been working on a membership CD. Myrelis and Doug have been working on access and contact with the members and improving the demographic data gathering. Myrelis and Kellie have been in contact regarding updating some of the things Kellie was working on. Myrelis expressed concern about the drop in membership in non-conference years. She has put out a call for a membership committee in the newsletter.
