Assistant Professor – American Sign Language
Location: Strode Tower, Clemson, South Carolina
The Department of Languages at Clemson University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of American Sign Language, tenure track, beginning August 2018. Native or near-native proficiency in ASL, and an earned doctorate (ABD will be considered) in American Sign Language, Deaf Studies, Linguistics, or another appropriate field is required. Applicants should also have ASLTA certification and have 3-5 years of college-level teaching experience.
The successful candidate is expected to support a strong undergraduate program through research, teaching, as well as participation in and promotion of various extra-curricular activities. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate ASL acquisition coursework. This position requires a strong foundation in curricular design and competency-based education, as well as extensive knowledge of ASL education teaching methodology and resources.
