Northeastern University invites applications for the position of Teaching Professor or Assistant Academic Specialist – ASL and/or Interpreting.
The first half of 2020 has challenged us in our work as interpreters and as educators of American Sign Language and Interpreting. The impact of COVID-19 and a long-needed response to societal racial injustice and systemic racism in our institutions have left their mark on our community and our work in many ways. We are at a crossroads where, if we undertake the work ahead with mindful intention, it can lead to much-needed transformation. We invite qualified candidates who share the new Director’s vision for a transformed pedagogy to apply for one of two positions we aim to fill.
The Northeastern ASL & Interpreting Education program is committed to providing quality ASL and interpreting education that reflects the communities that interpreters serve. We are adapting to the new normal that a global pandemic has presented us. Moreover, we stand with Deaf people and Black, Indigenous, People of Color in the struggle for social and economic justice. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the teaching faculty at Northeastern ASL interpreting program, please see the job information and feel free to share this advertisement across your networks.
