“Flying Solo” Scholarship

The Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT) offers scholarships to current professionals who might not otherwise be able to attend the 2020 CIT Conference. Awards are based on financial need.

Scholarships of up to $500.00 in value may be awarded to cover the cost of registering for the 2020 CIT Conference. Scholarship recipients MUST be current CIT members. Scholarships will be awarded based on the availability of funds from the CIT Scholarship donation funds and will vary each year.

What the Scholarship Covers

Scholarship recipients will receive up to the cost of a full conference registration valued at $500.00 regular attendees.

Please note that the scholarship does not cover travel, hotel, and incidental expenses. Recipients will be notified ahead of the conference.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Any CIT member is eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Who is NOT Eligible?

Individuals are ineligible if they are not a member of CIT or are already registered to attend the 2020 CIT Conference

Judging Criteria

Required:

  1. Current CIT member
  2. Explanation of financial need such as no organizational support or reimbursement to attend the conference

Additional Criteria:

  1. Contributions to the applicant’s job and to his/her community.
  2. Demonstrated involvement in the CIT
  3. Participation summary: reason expressed, presentation, organization, and clarity.

* If you are granted a scholarship it is understood that you will attend the 2020 CIT Conference.

The recipients will receive a complimentary conference registration.  No reimbursement of any other expenses will be provided.

How to Apply

Complete the online application form to include:

  • Contact & demographic information
  • Resume and head-shot picture
  • English narrative of financial need, contributions to job and community, involvement in CIT, etc.
  • Submission of an ASL video link addressing narrative of financial need, contributions to job and community, involvement in CIT, etc.

All scholarship applications must be received by March 15, 2020.  Scholarship recipients will be notified by March 30, 2020.

Early-Bird Price

Because notification for the coupon comes after the Early-Bird deadline, all members who complete the scholarship application form and are not selected for the scholarship will receive a coupon for $100 off the full member-rate registration.  So, you can apply with no risk of missing out on the early-bird rate.

  • Please attach a file with an English narrative explaining your financial need as well as the ways you contribute to the profession and community, including your involvement in CIT or other professional or community organizations.
  • Submit a link to a video (unlisted YouTube, GoogleDrive, Vimeo, etc) with an ASL narrative explaining your financial need as well as the ways you contribute to the profession and community, including your involvement in CIT or other professional or community organizations.
