Welcome to the CIT Website

Hello and welcome to the Conference of Interpreter Trainer’s website found at www.cit-asl.org.

My name is Leslie Greer and I am CIT’s Director of Public Relation and Outreach.

Now I'd like to talk a little about what the website contains. First off, the goal of having the CIT’s website is for you! Professors, mentors, ASL Instructors, and researchers, as well as a host of others. CIT is here to cooperatively share information such as Curriculum, disseminate research and resource as needed. The goal is to improve the quality of our student Interpreters. When instructors struggle with a situation with their students, they can contact CIT for a variety of resources.

Do you see the tabs at the top of the home page? There are a few.

For example, click on the tab that reads “Contact Us”. A drop down menu will appear. Choose the second option, “Search Site”. This feature will save you time instead of searching for hours and hours. Maybe you’re looking for some curriculum, you might type in “Interpreting 101”. A list of options will appear, and you can just click the one that applies to what you were looking for.

Upon clicking on the tab labeled “Contact Us” at the top of the screen, you will come across a list of names of all the board members. If you want to contact the “President”, you can. If you’ve done some research and want to publish it, or other accomplishments that you want to publish, contact the “Director of Research and Publications”. Do you want to add something to the website? Click on the contact info for the “Director of Communication and Technology”. Isn’t that great?

If you want even more information you may notice there is a tab for “Members Only”. The reason we have that is because there is a lot more information there. If you are curious, JOIN US! How to do that is, click on the “Membership” tab and from the drop down menu and choose “Join CIT”. Fill out the information form. With the advent of technology it is easy, not like it use to be. Hope you enjoy looking through the website. Go do it now!

CIT is not only for Interpreting Educators. It is also for ASL Instructors, Researchers, those who teach workshops, and Mentors as well; all can participate. The list goes on and on. It is not limited. We all support working together for student interpreters’ success. To improve communication and to promote socialization with Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing and Hearing people. It is very important to work cooperatively.

Thank you for watching my presentation, I hope you enjoyed it. I encourage you to frequently access the website. I am going back to reading my iPad! Bye for now.
