Conference of Interpreter Trainers Board Meeting

Persons present: Brian Morrison, Cindy Farnham, Cindy Volk, Carolyn Ball, Myrelis Aponte-Samalot, Leslie Greer, Annette Miner, Laura Braucht, Suzanne Ehrlich

The meeting was opened by President, Brian Morrison at 8:00 pm EST.

1) Minutes from the July, 2009 meeting were approved.

2) Brian reported on his trip to the Interpreter Trainers Workshop (ITW) and the Australian Sign Language Interpreter’s Association (ASLIA) in Melbourne, Australia. Brian presented at the conference regarding CIT and how we can work collaboratively with the organizations in Australia, as well as other countries.

3) Discussion regarding the 2010 convention:

a) The dates are October 27 – 30, 2010 at the Omni La Mansion del Rio on the riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.
b) Discussion regarding the conference theme, timeline and keynote and plenary presenters.

4) Suzanne reported that that she is working on the idea of CIT on Facebook. She is also working on the idea of using Google Apps as a central place to store, retrieve, edit and share all of our CIT documents.

5) Annette reported that the journal is on schedule and will be ready to go out in November. She is working on getting the ASL translation bid. The committee is also considering a BSL translation of the journal, since ASL, BSL and English are the official languages of the journal.

6) Leslie reported that she is working with ASLTA to secure our registrations, rooms, and the joint luncheon for the conference. The joint luncheon between ASLTA/CIT will be on Thursday of the ASLTA conference. Leslie also discussed having a blog/discussion group moderated by Christine Monikowski on the CIT website. This would be in the Members Only section.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 pm EST.
