Conference of Interpreter Trainers Board Meeting

Persons present:  Brian Morrison, Cindy Volk, Carolyn Ball, Myrelis Aponte-Samalot, Leslie Greer, Annette Miner, Laura Braucht, Suzanne Ehrlich

Absent:  Cindy Farnham

The meeting was opened by President, Brian Morrison at 8:00 pm EST.

  1. Minutes from the June, 2009 meeting were approved.
  2. Discussion regarding those attending the RID convention and the CIT representation at the convention.
  3. Each of the directors needs to try and have an article for each edition of the newsletter.
  4. Brian and Cindy F flew to San Antonio to check out hotels for the 2010 conference. Contract negotiations are in the final stages.
  5. Annette reported that the journal copy editor (Linda Charlebois) has researched the going rate for copy editors. Cindy V (Leslie) moved that we pay the copy editor $5.00 per page.  Motion carried (B09: 09).  Annette will send us information on the costs of ASL translation of the journal.
  6. Laura reported that we need to start discussing the review process for presentations for the conference. Laura will summarize the issue, research the ASLTA and RID processes, email us ideas, and then we will discuss this at the face-to-face meeting in October. Laura will also look at the timeline in the conference materials and in Anna’s report from last year.
  7. Everyone needs to get their plane tickets booked for the ASLTA conference and send their information to Cindy F.
