Conference of Interpreter Trainers Board Meeting

Persons present:  Brian Morrison, Cindy Farnham, Cindy Volk, Carolyn Ball, Laura Braucht, Leslie Greer, Annette Miner, Suzanne Erlich-Martin
Absent:  Myrelis Aponte-Samalot

The meeting was opened by President, Brian Morrison at 8:17 pm EST.

  1. Minutes of the November, 2008 meeting need to be resent to board members. This will be completed by Cindy V.
  2. Annette (Suzanne) moved that we purchase two copies of the ASLTA proceedings.  Motion carried. Carolyn and Cindy F will take care of this. (B09:01)
  3. We will sponsor the RID conference for $2,000.  Carolyn and Leslie will take care of this.
  4. Brian will contact Myrelis about establishing a CODA committee.
  5. Discussion regarding the possibility of a week-long conference in San Antonio instead of Wednesday – Saturday. More discussion on this to take place at the face-to-face meeting.  Suzanne will work with Doug to survey the membership before the meeting.
  6. Face-to-face meeting in Sacramento:  Everyone needs to read “Doing Good Better” before the face-to-face meeting.  Bring two points from the book that CIT board does effectively and also 2 areas for improvement. Everyone needs to look at their information from the strategic plan and be ready to report on it. Brian will send the by-laws and PPM and their lists from the strategic plan to Suzanne and Myrelis.
  7. Annette reported that the journal will be called the International Journal of Interpreter Education. The manuscript deadline is March 30, 2009.
